3801 TRAIN TOUR COMPANY EVICTED
Hello and welcome back... Sad news for Train lovers as the 3801 Vintage Tour Company were evicted from their Eveleigh warehouse.
The 3801 vintage train company runs mostly Diesel locos, similar to the train i used to catch from Campbelltown to Central back in the late 80s / early 90s.
These beautiful bullet nose (that's what i call them) diesels were a hoot to catch. The sheer raw power of these beasts were amazing, often going thru Minto / Ingleburn railway stations in 3 seconds flat.
I used to sit in the first carriage so i could hear the diesel, powering up after leaving the few stops it had.
(if i was rich, i would have one of these locos in my back yard :))
The 3801 tour company was locked out of the site (they even changed the padlocks) all thanks to latest NSW Government using 'safety standards' as the main reason.
Hope the 3801 can get back on their feet and find somewhere new to locate so these amazing engines can see the light of day again.

TECSUN PL-300ET SHORTWAVE RADIO - (Radio Review)
Hello and welcome back... If you are looking for a cheap & portable Shortwave Radio... Read on.
I got this little radio in one of those Innovations Catlogs and must say... I'm pretty impressed.
Its a Tecsun (model PL300et) Shortwave Receiver.
Its main claim to fame is its world time dial (you can turn a dial on the front of the radio and it will show current time (where you were) and new time (where you are now)).
Cost around $79
Its portable, great sound and reception and it even shows the temp (i like this feature)
The only down-side i can find is the tuning part..
The Tecsun has 4 modes for tuning.. =
Jog dial manual tuning
Auto scan tuning
Memory pre-setting auto scan tuning
Memory pre-setting manual scan tuning

The problem is, this radio has 500 preset memories, which sounds impressive but is a pain when your using a thumb dial to go through 500 different stations (mind boggling and i've forgotten what each channels are)... Its probably me being picky but it something that annoys me.
Also the tuning will go at 1khz step then suddenly jumps to 10khz steps depending how fast you twiddle the knob.. takes a bit of getting used to.
It could also use a plug to connect an external antenna (kinda like a headphone socket)
But over all, its an amazing little radio and well worth the money..
For me its a 8/10

DOING YOUR HOMEWORK
Hello and welcome back... Sometimes, looking for new frequencies is half the fun as listening...
Sure, there's the hours scrolling thru the ACMA website, but sometimes its the little things like watching a video on your favorite item and finding a little gem.
I was watching the video for the new Toll Ambulance Helicopters when a shot of the dash and console showed frequencies programed.
Interesting...
FREQUENCIES
121.500 (distress ch)
156.800 (marine distress)
243.000 (UHF Distress (Military?)
406.025 (Emergency Locator Beacon?)
156.525 (marine)
123.100 (search & rescue)
Add these frequencies to your scanner, you never know what you will hear..
