WESTERN SYDNEY AIRPORT - BADGERYS CREEK AIRPORT (updated 10/03/2024)

Hello and welcome back.... Badgerys Creek Airport (Sydney Second Airport - WSI) also known as Nancy Bird Walton Airport

Situated at Badgerys Creek NSW (postcode 2555), This airport will have no control tower and will be the first in Australia to do so in 2026

Instead, it will have a DAS (Digital Aerodrome Services) which involves having a Data center at Eastern Creek that will run hi-definition cameras / sensors with a little help from AI

The DAS Center (former Hewlett-Packard center) will be situated at the CDC site (Canberra Data Centre) at Eastern Creek (Roberts Rd)

Providers will be CDC (owned by Infratil), Frequentis Australasia & Airservices Australia


TIMELINE
2016 = Work Starts
2020's  = Stage One..  Single runway only (northeast/southwest direction) and serve as a buffer to Sydney Airport. 

Domestic, International and Cargo will be supported

2026 = 1st runway in operation (prob around Nov/Dec)
2050 = Stage 2.. 2 Runways (3.7km long - Parallel) will be operational.
