SOUTHCARE GETS NEW HELICOPTER FOR CANBERRA

Hello and welcome back... Gone is the Bell 412 chopper and hello to the expanding fleet of AugustaWestland AW139 helicopters owned by Toll group.

While the new helicopter is 40% faster and flies better at night, the new Toll helicopter will serve the ACT and South Coast well.

Just one problem.. Turns out, the new helicopters are about 500 kilograms too heavy to land on existing landing pads at various hospitals (including Canberra & Nepean) and will have to undergo reinforcements.
The new helicopters can also create 17tonnes of downwash. So far, some of the landing pads have already had reinforcements done, some are still waiting with alternate sites to land.

But on the good side, Toll have been doing an excellent job with up to 120 callouts in a week.

*** Please shout me a coffee (see link top right corner).. Any amount big or small is much appreciated and it keeps this site happening :)***
